Release Us, We Plead; A poem against Child Abuse ✍ Tuyi Tosin

We were stripped of our childhood
And walked naked into severe torture
Feigned in an act of nurture
Thru hades we trekked  barefoot

Release us we plead,

We prisoners of slavery
Captives of ruthlessness
The eaglet is now caged with the cassowary
Unable to predict its future like the game of chess

With contempt, we faced the wrath of the wire
Opened between fire
Those strokes landed on our backs like thunderbolt
It sends cold sensation down our spine thru our coat

Hey Sire,

You said we are the leaders of tomorrow
But your curse has affected our soul
Unto it, you bore a hole
As you tongue-lashed our destiny into the burning coal

Release us, we plead

We hope you take heed
In agony, our heart bleeds
Freedom, our childhood needs
For its creed, is our meed.

Armed Beggars; a poem ✍ Tuyi Tosin

You said 'At ease'
I said 'Attention'
You were meant to ensure peace
But ended up staking the life of the nation

You traded our well being for a piece of meat
Your greed has turned you to beggars on the street
Armed beggars 'being given money without sympathy
You ended up deteriorating your dignity

With fury raging in your eyes
You sent an esoteric signal in disguise
Then you say 'Oya do normal
Or else, it becomes critical'

The quiescent driver hands over the 'green note' surreptitiously
You then walk off to another 'majestically
Leaving the poor man in agony

This is a nation
Where beggars are armed
I say stand at attention
For our policemen now beg for alms

Momma said

Work hard
To never fall into the Lazarus band
Tighten your belt, buckle your shoe
Do good, be trustworthy and be responsible

Be swift to hear and slow to speak
Pray fervently
Eat gently
Aim high, for the sky is your peak

Momma said

Do not judge any book by its cover
Coz not all precious stones glitter
Read the content in those pages
Understand its rudiment and basis

Momma said

Fly alone and soar like the eagle
And never flock with sparrows
Never move with lazy people
So as to ride exotic cars, and not push wheelbarrows
