The Christmas Song; A poem by Tuyi Tosin

The Christmas Song

The gong is stricken furiously
Dancing to the rhythm hysterically
Making the jolly go folly

Oh;
Jingle bell
Jingle bell
Jingle all the way
Jingle all the way to the balling room
Away into eternal doom

Composed to unveil Christ birth
Ended up subjecting Him to a second death

Atavistically in Christ's Honour
Mistaken for glitz and glamour
Resulted men in the beer-parlour
"Merry Christmas" they say,drinking to stupor

Oh;
Jingle the bell
Straight to hell
Strike the gong
Sing the song

Wrapped in the warm arms of a cyprian
Lost in a mirage of pleasure
Dominating like the Sultan
For a length of time that can't be measured

The Christmas Song

Is this what it is all about
Making a noise with different shout-out
Dancing to the lyrics
Forgetting the theme of the song
Wasting ourselves in the picnics
By the tune from the Gong

I still remain your Loyal Activist Tuyi Tosin
